AI for Creatives - AI Virtual Pre-College Class

A 6-week program that delves into the dynamic synergy of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and creativity. Participants will grasp AI fundamentals, utilize AI for ideation and content creation, and explore ethical considerations. They'll learn to collaborate effectively with AI, communicate the value of AI-enhanced work, and reflect on AI's evolving role in creativity. By the end, participants will have the knowledge and skills to infuse AI into their creative endeavors while upholding ethical standards.


Lost Wax Casting for Jewelry

Through the exciting process of lost wax casting, students will learn the skills necessary to turn a wax model into a beautiful wearable object or a small sculptural form. The amazing process of pouring molten metal into a mold is filled with ideas and possibilities and that includes casting precious gemstones in place, At the end of the class students will not only take home their beautiful jewelry and small sculptures made in the classroom casting studio and have the chance to visit the foundry to watch a large sculpture being poured. At the foundry students will see another technique for casting called the ceramic shell process. Where else can a student experience the entire overview of metal casting in one class, from small, detailed jewelry to the casting of large bronzes sculptures!


VIS for Character Design and Video Games

Students will explore the process of development for animated and live action films by taking an idea from concept to completion. There will be a focus on composition, figure drawing, character design, perspective, storytelling, color and value, and thumbnail sketches. Students will produce a final cinematic painting.


Music Production

This course introduces you to the world of creating soundtracks for visual media - films, games and more – using industry standard digital audio workstations. You will learn how to use virtual instruments to create music, import media, and record, edit and mix your tracks in sync with video. You will finish the course with an exported video with your soundtrack on it!

To take this course, you must have access to an Apple computer that can run Logic Pro X.


Introduction to Visual Design

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of digital conceptualization, design, and implementation for interactive media. Using Adobe Creative Cloud, students will learn the basics of digital drawing and imaging while creating compositions for interactive media. Students will be given a cursory introduction to the fundamentals of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. This includes principles surrounding wireframe development and interface prototype creation.

Prior computer experience is recommended.


Introduction to Acting

Students develop their understanding of the art of acting by participating in exercises and beginning scene study. The rehearsal of scenes is an integral part of the course. Work is done with partners and as an ensemble.


Introduction to Visual Effects

This is an introductory course to the visual effects pipeline. You will be walked through the process of creating a short film featuring live action, animation, and other visual effects. We will start with the storyboarding process then move on to working with live action elements, including green-screen characters and background plates. We will animate, light, render, and composite a computer-generated prop into the shots. At the end of the class, we will edit the shot together, add sound, color correct and output the final film.


Introduction to Styling

This experience will introduce young people who love fashion and want to discover more about trends and style. Reflective of the analysis and prospective thinking processes students will be introduced to the fundamental skills and approaches utilizing garments to create fashion looks and themes. Guided through research, idea generation and developing a critical understanding of their own unique thinking. Project-based – the program is staged to build key industry-based skills in trend analysis, styling, photography, and social media as a place of discovery and presentation.


Exploring Animation

A survey of animation techniques, with each module covering a different area of animation. The presentations and discussions will include visual examples of the topic and will explore the principles of animation that will be covered in the activity. Activities will have participants coming away with a new animated scene (storyboard in the first week) every week. Some scenes are individually done while others are done in teams.


Sketching for Game Art

This course is designed to equip students with some of the foundational sketching tools needed to begin learning concept art for games. Students will learn everything from basic anatomy to some of the core principles of character and concept design. Create character and stories of your own choosing. This is a great course for anyone interested in a career in concept art.
