Lost Wax Casting for Jewelry

Through the exciting process of lost wax casting, students will learn the skills necessary to turn a wax model into a beautiful wearable object or a small sculptural form. The amazing process of pouring molten metal into a mold is filled with ideas and possibilities and that includes casting precious gemstones in place, At the end of the class students will not only take home their beautiful jewelry and small sculptures made in the classroom casting studio and have the chance to visit the foundry to watch a large sculpture being poured. At the foundry students will see another technique for casting called the ceramic shell process. Where else can a student experience the entire overview of metal casting in one class, from small, detailed jewelry to the casting of large bronzes sculptures!
