Introduction to Acting





If you want to learn the techniques professionals use to become stars, this course is for you. You’ll learn to create and develop three-dimensional characters, analyze subtext in screenplays, and work with partners to create your first acting reel.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Identify and apply acting vocabulary to a character within a scene
  • Create and develop a character with a fully realized arc
  • Analyze a play
  • Apply archetypes to develop a three dimensional character
  • Employ rehearsal techniques and adjustments with a partner outside of class
  • Practice full use of the imagination within the creative process
  • Contribute to the ensemble process

Will display the following attitudes/professional behaviors:

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques
