Introduction to Fashion Design





This experience will introduce young people who love fashion and want to discover more of its creative possibilities and modes of design. Reflective of the design processes students will be introduced to the fundamental skills and approaches to seeing their ideas come to life. Guided through research, idea generation and developing a critical understanding of their own unique thinking. Project-based – the program is staged to build key industry-based skills in drawing, textile print making and fashion design.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Create successful design concepts.
  • Understand the process of research, design development and ideation.
  • Understand the process of creating design motifs and apply those through textile. making methodologies.

Will display the following attitudes and professional behavior:

  • Meet deadlines.
  • Come prepared at all times.
  • Discuss work using specific and appropriate terminology.
  • Contribute to class discussion and critique.
