Printmaking





Come and learn the basics of printmaking during this exciting course! In this course you will have the opportunity to learn relief printing in its various forms. Relief techniques are ones where the printing surface is cut away so that the image can be printed similarly to a stamp. Tools, inks, and presses will be available and personal instruction will be provided by the instructor on creating your images on linoleum block and wood block. Students will be able to print editions of the images they carve during this course.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Have an understanding of the supplies and materials used in printmaking.
  • Create prints using linoleum block and wood block.
  • Use the printing press to print the images you carve onto paper.

Will display the following attitudes/professional behaviors:

  • Meet deadlines.
  • Come prepared at all times.
  • Discuss work using specific and appropriate terminology.
  • Contribute to class discussion and critique.
